허 윤 희 Yunhee Huh
허윤희(1968년생)는 이화여자대학교 미술대학 서양화과와 독일 브레멘예술대학교에서 회화를 공부했다. 목탄으로 종이와 벽에 드로잉을 하고 2008년부터 산책길에서 만난 나뭇잎을 그리고 짧은 글을 곁들여 <나뭇잎 일기>를 써오고 있다. 그 드로잉을 모아 <나뭇잎 일기>를 출간했다.(궁리출판사, 2018)
삶을 되돌아보고 자연과 인간, 존재에 대한 생각을 드로잉과 퍼포먼스, 회화로 표현하는 작가는 영은미술관, 수애뇨339, 국립세종수목원 등 국내외에서 26회의 개인전을 열었고 국립현대미술관, 금호미술관, 독일 베를린의 쿨투어팔라스트베딩 등 다수의 그룹전에 참여하였으며 뉴욕드로잉센터에 작품이 소장되어있다. 현재 이화여자대학교에서 강의를 하고 있다.
Yunhee Huh(born 1968) studied Painting at Ewha Women’s University and Hochschule für Künste Bremen(University of the Arts Bremen). She makes charcoal drawings on papers and walls, and has been working on <Leaf Journal> since 2008. <Leaf Journal> is a book that was published in 2018, which presents short writings along with drawings of leaves that she brings with her on her daily walk.
Huh looks back to her past and addresses her opinions on nature, human, and existence through drawing, performance, and painting. She has held twenty-six solo exhibitions and participated in various group exhibitions world-wide. Her work is collected at The Drawing Center in New York and she currently teaches at Ewha Women’s University.
황 대 권 Hwang Daekwon
‘야생초 편지(2002)’ 저자로 널리 알려져 있는 황대권(1955년 출생)은 서울대 농대를 졸업하고 뉴욕 소재 사회과학대학원(New School for Social Research)에서 정치학을 공부하던 중 1985년 전두환 정권이 조작한 유학생 간첩단 사건에 연루되어 무기징역을 선고받고 복역하였다. 국제사면위원회 양심수로 선정되어 지속적인 석방 노력 끝에 13년 2개월만인 1998년 광복절에 석방 출소하였다. 이후 전남 영광에서 농사를 짓던 중 국제사면위원회의 초청으로 영국 슈마허 대학과 임페리얼 대학에서 생태디자인과 농업생태학을 공부했다. 현재 전라남도 영광에서 농부로 지내며 생명평화운동가로 활동하고 있다. 2020년 2월 사건이 일어나고 35년만에 재심을 통해 무죄확정 판결을 받아냈다.
Hwang Daekwon(b.1955), an author who is widely recognized for his book “The Wildflower Letters”, studied agriculture at Seoul National University and Political Science at the New School for Social Research in New York. In 1985, the South Korean military government took him into custody at Gimpo International airport in Seoul, South Korea, upon Hwang’s return from a holiday in the United States. He was accused of espionage for North Korea and was sentenced to life imprisonment, which later was reduced to twenty years. He was released in 1998 under amnesty and was invited by amnesty to come to the United Kingdom to continue agricultural study at Schumacher College and Imperial College London. He currently lives in Yeonggwang-Gun, Jeollanam-Do, South Korea as a farmer, a writer, and an activist. He was found innocent of the incident after 35 years, in February, 2020.
