아폴로니아 슈시테르쉬치 Apolonija Šušteršič
아폴로니아 슈시테르쉬치(Apolonija Šušteršič, 1965년생)는 시각예술가이자 건축가, 연구원, 작가 그리고 교수이다. 스웨덴 룬드 대학교에서 예술박사 학위를 취득하였으며, 노르웨이 오슬로 국립예술아카데미의 교수로서 Art & Public Space 석사 프로그램을 설립했다.
오늘날 거론되고 있는 사회참여예술(Socially Engaged Art) 이라는 예술 형식을 만들어낸 선구자 중 한 사람인 그는 수 십 년간 진행해온 사회참여예술 프로젝트들을 통해 사람들 간의 협력을 활성화하고 창조적 관계 형성과 행동 양식을 만들어내 왔다. 이러한 작업들은 특정 장소와 상황에 대한 광범위한 조사를 수행하는 예술과 건축, 사회 연구, 도시 이론 간 담론이 포함된다.

Apolonija Šušteršič is a visual artist, architect, researcher, writer and teacher. Her research-based practice is situated, cross-pollinating different fields of spatial practice and critical theory with projects that would activate cooperation between people or groups of people. She would create processes for engagement and platforms for action where people are able to reconnect with their own sense of agency by getting involved in working with space and place.
Her practice is embedded within the interdisciplinary discourse, between art and architecture, social studies and urban theory, usually performing extensive investigations into specific sites and situations. Pedagogy is an important part of her practice. Almost every project creates a pedagogical situation when learning is teaching, and teaching is learning - part of research and making.
Apolonija Šušteršič participated in a number of internationally published and exhibited projects, within and beyond the contemporary art institutions around the world, like Moderna Museet Stockholm, Berlin Biennale 2, Luxembourg City of Culture, Moderna Galerija Ljubljana, Marian Goodman, Paris, De Appel, Amsterdam, Generali Foundation, Vienna, Art Museum, University of Memphis, USA, Tirana Biennale 3, Tirana, Muhka, Antwerp, Edinburgh International Festival, Bildmuseet, Umeå, Galerie für Zeitgenossische Kunst, Leipzig, 12th Architecture Biennale, Venice, Artes Mundi 5, Gwangju Biennial among others.
Apolonija Šušteršič is a founder of an MFA study program, Art & Public Space, at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. She holds a PhD in Visual and Performing Arts from the University of Lund, Malmö Art Academy, Sweden. She runs her own art/architecture studio practice in Oslo, Norway and Ljubljana, Slovenia.
